Mel Gibson is a screenwriter, producer, film director and actor. He is an American Australian. Initially, he worked in the Mad Max and Lethal Weapon series. Further, he starred in and directed "Braveheart' which became an Academy Award winning film.

Robyn Gibson was formerly a dental nurse. She has purchased properties in Nevada and California. These properties range from 2 to 3 bedroom houses to 5 to 6 bedroom estates.

Terms of Mel Gibson Divorce Settlement

Mel and Robyn did not draft a prenuptial agreement. This couple made the following statement "Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so."

As per the divorce laws in California, it is necessary to split the estate and Robyn would be eligible for half the earnings of the actor. At the time of the divorce, Mel was worth 640 million pounds (900 million dollars at that moment). He was also the owner of an island in Fiji worth 10 million pounds and a church in Malibu estimated at 28 million pounds.

Robyn made a demand for the following in the divorce papers.

Mel's gross fortune was close to 1 billion USD and the 500 million USD settlement would surpass all the previous divorce settlements. As per the prevailing laws in those days, Mel would be expected to half of the film residual checks to Robyn. Accordingly, if he gets residual checks for Braveheart or Lethal Weapon, he would have to pay 50 percent of these checks to his ex wife.
