Military personnel are considered residents if they have been stationed in Washington D.C. for 6 months. [District of Columbia Code Annotated; Title 16, Chapter 9, Sections 902). These are the grounds for no-fault divorce in the District of Columbia: 1) Mutual voluntary separation without cohabitation for 6 months; 2) living separate and apart without cohabitation for I year.
